BANNER ELK, N.C. --- Lees-McRae College senior Lauren Lewis has been named the Women’s Student-Athlete of the Month for January 2014, announced College officials Tuesday.
Lewis (Concord, N.C.) averaged 15.3 points per contest while pacing the Bobcats to a flawless 5-0 record at home. The senior drained 21 three-pointers to lead the team while forcing five steals. Lewis averaged 32 minutes per contest and scored in double figures in six of seven games.
She shot 42.2% from the floor and connected on 83.3% of her free-throw attempts. She had a month-high 24 points at Belmont Abbey, Jan. 4. Lewis corralled 19 rebounds on the month.
The Lees-McRae College Student-Athlete of the Month Award honors one male and one female student-athlete each much from an in-season sport during the 2013-2014 academic year, recognizing their hard work, effort, and athletic performance.
