GREENSBORO, N.C. --- Lees-McRae junior Ryan Trask claimed two top-10 finishes in two field events while junior Rachelle Cleveland accomplished the same feat on the women’s side while LMC track & Field was at the Aggie Invitational in Greensboro, N.C. over the weekend.
Trask impressed in the javelin with a heave of 46.90 meters to claim fifth place and followed up with a 10th place finish in the discus with a distance of 34.54 meters. Freshman teammate Joshua Godwin earned an 11th place finish in the javelin at 38.80 meters and finished 16th in the discus with a toss of 31.80 meters. He also finished seventh in the shot put with a distance of 12.59 meters.
Junior Rachelle Cleveland continued her impressive season when she launched the javelin 33.50 meters on her first attempt while finishing third. She claimed seventh in the shot put with a throw of 11 meters. Freshman Jessica Hattabaugh finished ninth in the javelin with a distance of 26.95 meters.
Senior Kortnie Curry (5th), freshman Makayla Boswell (4th) and senior Persephanie McRae (8th) all finished in the top 10 in the women’s high jump. Boswell and Curry cleared 1.58 meters while McRae got over the 1.53 meter bar.
Curry finished 24th in the long jump with a distance of 4.47 meters.
Freshman Kayla Powell enjoyed a solid weekend after finishing 11th in the discus (31.52 meters) and 17th in the shot put (9.69 meters).
Freshman Cody McNeely highlighted the men’s track team with a top-30 finish in the 400-meter run with a time of 2:03.28.
Meagan Thorton earned a 15th-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:04.78.
Senior Evan Webb travelled to Tallahassee, Fla. and won the pole vault when he cleared 4.75 meters at the FSU Invitational.
LMC will take next week off before hosting the Conference Carolinas Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Banner Elk, N.C. on April 25 & 26.
