HIGH POINT, N.C. --- Seven Lees-McRae Track & Field performers notched top Division II results while participating at the High Point VertKlasse Meeting at Dick Vert Stadium in High Point, N.C.
Senior Evan Webb (Salisbury, N.C.) continued his winning ways with a win in the pole vault after clearing 4.87 meters. Webb earned a 13th place finish in the javelin with a heave of 45.01 meters, which was tops for all DII competitors.
Senior Kortnie Curry (Lexington, N.C.) put on quite a show while claiming ninth in the women's high jump with a height of 1.60 meters. The mark is a season best and she was the top finisher in Division II.
Fellow Bobcat Joshua Godwin (Pleasant Grove, N.C.) earned a top-20 finish in the javelin when he claimed 18th with a distance of 40.03 meters. Ryan Trask (Cobleskill, N.Y.) finished one spot behind Godwin with a throw of 39.32 meters.
Junior Rachelle Cleveland (Moyock, N.C.) was the top DII finisher in the field in the javelin and shot put. Cleveland impressed while finishing 5th in the javelin after a throw of 35.29 meters. Freshman Jessica Hattabaugh (Hamilton, Mass.) finished 12th after turning in a distance of 26.67 meters. Cleveland would earn a 15th place finish in the shot put with a distance of 10.89 meters.
Freshman Erin Bingham (Jefferson, N.C.) completed the 100-meter hurdles in 15.05 seconds, good for 19th and the best time for DII attendees. Dual athlete Meagan Thornton (Millville, N.J.) was 23rd with a time of 15.28.
Thornton finished 13th in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:04.34.
Freshman Kayla Powell (Moyock, N.C.) used a throw of 10.35 meters to earn a 19th place finish in the shot put. Later, she would top the DII field in the discus after a heave of 33.91 meters.
LMC will travel to Greensboro, N.C. to participate in the Aggie Invitational next weekend.
