Five Bobcats Named to Conference Carolinas Indoor Track & Field All-Academic Team

HIGH POINT, N.C. --- Five Lees-McRae Track
& Field student-athletes have been tabbed to the Conference
Carolinas Indoor Track & Field Academic All-Conference Team,
the conference office announced.
The women’s team consists of 23 student-athletes while 26
males garnered the recognition.
The representatives must be a junior or a senior with a
cumulative grade point average of 3.25 or higher on a 4.0 scale in
all work completed at their member institution that have played in
a conference sponsored sports. The GPA is calculated based on the
student-athletes cumulative average through the previous semester
and each student-athlete must have attended their member
institution for at least one academic year.
Lees-McRae placed seniors Taryn Moorhead (Deer Park, Wash.),
Heather Peterman (Buford, Ga.) and junior Meagan Thornton
(Millville, N.J.) on the women’s team. Moorhead and Peterman
are majoring in athletic training while Thornton is completing her
studies in elementary education.
King placed 10 student-athletes on the squad while LMC,
Limestone and North Greenville had a trio of representatives. Mount
Olive and Barton had two apiece.
On the men’s side, senior Tyler Dunn (Jasper, Ga.) and
junior Ryan Trask (Cobleskill, N.Y.) were tabbed to team. Dunn is
finishing up a double major in biology and psychology while Trask
is majoring in psychology.
King led all Conference Carolinas with six male representatives
while Mount Olive, North Greenville and Limestone had four. Belmont
Abbey had three while Barton placed two on the squad.
LMC opens its spring slate in Hickory, N.C. at the Power Sox
Invitational this weekend.
