    HIGH POINT, N.C. – The Lees-McRae College women’s volleyball team was picked to finish eighth in the Conference Carolinas women’s volleyball preseason poll the league announced Friday. Seniors Rachel Cutshaw, Madison Martin and Courtney Weathersbee were named players to watch for the squad in 2017.

    HIGH POINT, N.C. – Fresh off its first appearance in the Conference Carolinas semifinals since 2014, the Lees-McRae College women’s soccer team was picked to finish third in the Conference Carolinas Preseason Poll the league office announced Thursday. Junior goalkeeper Alexis Feely and sophomores Riley Neese and Katie Jo Daniel were named players to watch for the Bobcats this fall.

The incoming recruiting class includes two Division I transfers, a pair of high school players, one junior college transfer and a transfer from a NAIA institution.

Weddell brings over 10 years of collegiate coaching experience to Banner Elk including stops at Southern Illinois, Akron, Louisiana Monroe, Clemson and Limestone.

These two leagues, which are widely considered two of the top amateur soccer leagues in the United States, are made up of college or academy players along with hopeful professionals and former professionals.

The Bobcats, who will be led by first-year Head Coach Keith ‘Mister’ Jennings, have 28 games scheduled for the upcoming season including 12 home games at Williams Gymnasium and two exhibition games at Division I institutions.

    NEW ORLEANS – The Lees-McRae College men’s and women’s track and field programs were selected as All-Academic Teams by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) last Thursday. The women’s team finished with a team grade point average of 3.19, while the men’s squad posted a 3.04 GPA during the 2016-17 academic year.
