BANNER ELK, N.C. -- As incoming students moved into their dorms
Friday, the Lees-McRae College fall sports teams began their
preseason workouts for the 2010-2011 season.
The men's and women's cross country teams, men's and women's
soccer teams and the women's volleyball teams began Friday morning
with their first practice of the year.
New NCAA regulations have cut back on preseason workouts
limiting this years' teams to five days or 17 days before the first
day of competition. With classes beginning on August 18th at
Lees-McRae, the Bobcats hit practice fields Friday to prepare for
the upcoming season.
The first regular season contest will begin on Thursday,
September 2nd as the women's soccer team host North Georgia College
and State University at Tate Field. The men's soccer team and
women's volleyball teams will get underway on Friday, September
third. The soccer team will host Flagler at Tate Field, while the
women's host USC-Aiken in their first match of the Carolina
Challenge in Williams Gymnasium. The men's and women's cross
country teams' will also see their first action on Friday,
September 3rd at the Stampede at the Shoals hosted by Milligan
