Athletic facilities receive facelift
BANNER ELK, N.C. --- Lees-McRae College Athletic Director Craig McPhail is pleased to announce a number of renovations that are taking place around Tate Field and the Athletic Complex. McPhail announced Monday that these changes are just the first in a list of facility enhancements that will be taking place in the near future.
Among the changes is a press box at Tate Field, fence repair at the outdoor tennis courts, and complete renovation to the softball field. These changes have taken place over the past few weeks, along with a number of small maintenance items within Williams Gymnasium.
"I am excited to see our facility improvements,"said McPhail. "These efforts will help us recruit and retain the type of Lees-McRae student-athlete that will allow us the strong tradition we have in intercollegiate athletics."
Within Williams Gymnasium, a number of locker room facilities have received facelifts, as well as the main athletics office.
The softball complex is the most notable, with a new windscreen along the outfield fence, a newly constructed wall along the base of the backstop, and new bullpen and hitting cage. Future plans include the move of the press box directly behind home plate.
Lees-McRae College, located in Banner Elk, N.C., is affiliated with the Presbyterian Church, USA and is a NCAA Division II member of Conference Carolinas which is comprised of 11 colleges and universities in North Carolina and South Carolina.
