HIGH POINT, N.C. --- Lees-McRae senior Lauren Lewis and sophomore Alyssa Munson were tabbed to the Conference Carolinas all-conference squads, the conference announced at Tuesday night’s awards presentation at the NASCAR Hall of Fame in Charlotte, N.C.
Lewis (Concord, N.C.) earned second-team recognition while she paced the conference in three-point percentage (38.3) and finished ninth in scoring (13.6). The senior started all but one game while averaging 32.1 minutes per contest. She amassed six games of at least 20 points while dropping a season-high 28 in a road game at Erskine.
She hit 75 of LMC’s 129 three-pointers on the season while shooting an efficient 77.8% from the charity stripe.
Munson (Summerfield, N.C.) claimed third-team merits after finishing sixth in the conference in field-goal percentage (46.8). The sophomore started 24 games while leading the team with 130 made field-goal attempts. She finished second on the team with 6.4 rebounds per contest.
She produced 18 games in double figures while racking up three double-doubles. She registered a season-high 24 points on two occasions and shot 69.9% from the free-throw line.
The Bobcats won double digit games (12) for the first time since the 2006-07 season when they went 11-17.
Barton’s Nyshea Willie earned Player of the Year while Limestone’s Alicia Brookins was tabbed Defensive Player of the Year. Despite being upset in the quarterfinals, Belmont Abbey’s Jason Williams was recognized as Coach of the Year and Erskine’s Raygon Hendrix was named Freshman of the Year.
There were three all-conference teams recognized with five members on each. Belmont Abbey paved the way with four selections while North Greenville, LMC, Limestone and Mount Olive had two apiece.
