Director of Athletics -- Welcome to Lees-McRae College Athletics
New Director of Athletics, Craig McPhail would like to extend his welcome and introduction to the Lees-McRae College Athletic Department.
Dear Fan, Student-Athlete, Parent, Recruit or Donor:I want to welcome you to our website as well as our athletic department. I am the new Director of Athletics at Lees-McRae College, but I have seen the college from a variety of positions. In July of 1998, I came to Banner Elk, NC as the Sports Information Director as well as the head cross-country coach and as the years passed my roles have expanded to my newest title.
It is a privilege to represent so many different people, coaches, student-athletes, alumni and anyone who has ever been associated with this special place in the mountains. I am looking forward to helping further the development of the athletic department and those who enter its halls.
We will have over 300 student-athletes wear the green and gold uniforms this year, participating in 18 sports. We proudly watch as they strive for excellence both in and out of the classroom.
As a department, we are a close knit group of caring, understanding young men and women committed to making the collegiate student-athlete experience a great one. This is the greatest time in young person’s life as they get a chance to expand their horizons while prepping for the real world.
I can assure you the coaching staff, athletic training staff and administrative staff here in the athletic department will do everything they can to develop your talents, guide you through life, and help give you the tools necessary to be a success.
Banner Elk and Lees-McRae College have been good to me over the years, and I hope you will find our safe, calm and natural environment as appealing.
This is a special and unique place.
