BRISTOL, Tenn. --- The Lees-McRae College cycling team won all but one race at the King College Race Weekend on Saturday and Sunday, totaling 11 top-five finishes, including five individual victories.
Peter Haile (Fort Collins, Colo.) led the charge for the Bobcats with wins in the men's "A" road race on Saturday and the men's "A" criterium on Sunday, while Erica Zaveta (Erwinna, Pa.) posted a second-place finish in the women's "A" race on Saturday before capturing the top spot on the podium in the women's "A" criterium on Sunday.
Zac Felpel (Willow St., Pa.) finished second in both the men's "A" road race and the men's "A" criterium, as Trevor MacLean (Westport, Conn.) and Jordan Gillespie (Fries, Va.) placed first and third, respectively, in the men's "B" road race. Rachel Warner (Luray, Va.) finished third in the women's "A" road race before grabbing the second spot in the women's "A" criterium.
Gillespie, Ezra Mullen (Nottingham, N.H.), and Sam Massie (Newport News, Va.) captured the top three spots, respectively, in the men's "B" criterium on Sunday. Thomas Goetz and MacLean also grabbed the fifth and seventh spots, respectively, in the men's "B" criterium.
Lees-McRae returns to the course on April 16 and 17 at the Southern Collegiate Cycling Conference Championships, hosted by Mercer College in Macon, Ga.
