OGDEN, Utah --- The Lees-McRae College cycling team sits ninth in the team omnium standings at the conclusion of the first day of the USA Cycling Collegiate Road National Championships, finishing eighth in the women's team time trial and ninth in the men's competition.
Marian University holds the top spot in the team omnium standings after day one, winning the women's team time trial and finishing third in the men's competition to record 167 points on the day. Fort Lewis College is second with 150 points, followed by Stanford University (126), University of Colorado-Boulder (126), and University of California-Davis (111).
The Bobcats kicked off the weekend with an eighth-place performance in the women's team time trial, turning in a time of 52:13.95 to beat out Lindenwood University by more than two minutes. The men's team followed with a ninth-place performance, posting a time of 42:53.29 to edge Lindsey Wilson College.
Lees-McRae returns to action on Saturday when the Bobcats take the course in the criterium. The women's race is expected to begin at 2:15 p.m. MDT, followed by the men's competition at 5:00 p.m. MDT.
