BANNER ELK, N.C. --- Will Hardin has signed with the Lees-McRae cycling program, announced director and head coach of cycling Tim Hall Tuesday morning.
"We are thrilled Will has chosen to pursue his degree and develop his cycling ability here at Lees-McRae. Will has proven himself to be a hardworking student and promising athlete," praised Hall. "I was impressed during his campus visit by the way he communicated with everyone and his dedication to becoming his personal best as a student-cyclist. People in the Winston-Salem cycling community have spoken highly of him as well. I believe he has the potential to get much stronger, a lot faster, and will one day make an impact on our elite A team."
The incoming freshman accumulated 12 podium placings and a victory in 2015.
This season he has seven podium placings and a pair of victories.
Hardin will focus on cyclocross and road racing.
The Winston-Salem, N.C., native is a two-time letter representative in football and swimming at Ronald W. Reagan High School. He was tabbed to the all-conference team as a junior varsity inside linebacker.
Hardin spent time with Hearts Racing and Ken's Bike Shop under the direction of Jon Hamblen.
Hardin is brother to Worth (27) and Chase Hardin (16) and son to Beth.
He is undecided on his major but is leaning towards biology.
