BANNER ELK, N.C. – The Lees-McRae College cycling team announced the signing of Daniel Jeske (Marcellus, N.Y.) to join the Bobcats for the 2017-18 season Friday afternoon. Jeske is the eighth signee for the Bobcats this spring as he joins Bergen Khare, Austin Brown, Jacob Tarbay, Dagny Palmer, Matthew Armstrong, Andrew Sparks and Svetlana Mack as new cyclists set to join LMC this fall.
"Daniel is going to be a difference maker for our program from 2017 through 2021," said LMC Head Coach Tim Hall. "He has a big engine on the road and the desire to use it for our team success, which we hope to leverage in cyclocross as well. We were impressed with his questions and selfless attitude during his visit last month. Daniel did a wonderful job selling himself and clearly expressing what he wishes to accomplish in college. We are thrilled to have him become a Bobcat."
Among Jeske's highlights in his career as a cyclist so far are a pair of top five finishes in both the Tour of Battenkill (1st) and Killington Stage Race (4th). Jeske also notched an eighth place finish in the Green Mountain Stage race to go along with several local race victories in his home state of New York.
"I originally chose Lees-McRae because of the outdoor atmosphere, location, and cycling team. But all the awesome people I met while visiting are what really sold me on the school."
Jeske is a proposed history major when he enrolls in Lees-McRae this fall.
