Cycling Wraps Up Competition at SECCC Cyclocross Championship


SWANANOA, N.C. - The Lees-McRae College cycling team turned in a solid performance at the Southeastern Collegiate Cycling Conference (SECCC) cyclocross championship back on Saturday (Dec. 1) at Warren Wilson College.

Men - Andrew Sparks paced the men in the A race with a fifth-place finish, while Liam Flanagan was the other top-10 finisher in the competition in eighth. Andrew Blackstone finished in 12th, while David Kahn finished on his heels in 14th. Zachary Ross also finished 22nd to round out Lees-McRae in the A race. Joseph Penley collected a second-place finish in the B race, while Clancy Loorham finished second in the C race.

Women - Ashlyn Woods paced the women with a second-place finish in the A race, while Erin Sferrazza crossed the line in fifth. Dagny Palmer finished seventh, while Kiley Krasley took ninth to total four top-10 finishes for the women in the A race. 

Up Next - Lees-McRae will take to the course again next week for cyclocross nationals in Louisville, Ky. The event begins on Dec. 13 and runs through Dec. 15.
