Cycling Takes Sixth at Cyclocross Nationals

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The Lees-McRae College cycling team took sixth at collegiate cyclocross nationals, which ran from last Thursday (Dec. 13) to Saturday (Dec. 15).

Marian University captured the title, while Fort Lewis finished second and Brevard took third. Colorado Mesa and Lindenwood rounded out the top five.

Day One - Lees-McRae's women raced on the first day of the event, led by an 11th place finish by Ashlynn Woods. Kiley Krasley was the next Bobcat across the line in 26th, while Dagny Palmer finished 28th and Erin Sferrazza placed 35th.

Day Two - The men raced on day two, paced by a 16th-place finish by Andrew Sparks. Drew Blackstone and Liam Flanagan finished back-to-back in 28th and 29th, while David Kahn and Zachary Ross finished consecutively in 40th and 41st

Day Three - The final event for Lees-McRae was the team relay event. The quartet of Flanagan, Sferrazza, Sparks and Woods placed sixth in the event.

This concludes the collegiate cyclocross season.
