ATLANTA, Ga. – The Lees-McRae College cycling programs began the 2019-20 season on a strong note this past weekend at Georgia Tech. Overall, the Bobcats posted eight victories and had eight more podium finishes over the course of two days.

Lees-McRae showed well in all four event types Saturday and Sunday. The Bobcats and the rest of the field competed in downhill, cross country, short track cross country and endoro.

The women's team collected a total of five victories on the weekend. Freshman Maria Döring made an immediate impact in her first collegiate competition collecting victories in the A cross country, short track cross country and B enduro. Senior Veronica Laughton picked up the other two victories for the women's A team posting wins in the downhill and enduro races. Other standout performances for Lees-McRae included a pair of second place finishes from both Svetlana Mack and Madysen Rails in the A field.

On the men's side, David Kahn paced the Bobcats with victories in the A downhill and enduro. Freshman Max Beaupre notched his first collegiate victory after finishing first in the B short cross country race. Furthermore, Beaupre also finished second in both the A downhill and enduro. Wrapping up the podium finishes for the Bobcats on the weekend were the duo of Andrew Sparks (3rd – cross country) and Bergen Khare (3rd – enduro) in the A field.

The Bobcats will look to build upon these performances on Saturday and Sunday when they head to Windrock Bike Park in Oliver Springs, Tennessee to compete in an event hosted by the University of Tennessee.
