Misenheimer, NC--The Pfeiffer University Falcons soared over the Lees-McRae men's basketball team 89-71 in Conference Carolinas action Monday evening in Misenheimer, NC. The Falcons improve their record to 8-4 overall (4-2 conference) while the Bobcats slip to 2-11 (1-6 conference).
The Falcons flew out strong against the Bobcats in the first half gaining as much as a nineteen point lead before settling for a 16 point, 47-31 halftime lead.
After the break, the Bobcats played evenly with the Falcons, scoring 40 points to the Falcons' 42 while out rebounding them in the second half. But the Bobcats continued to struggle both at the line and with turnovers and could not overcome the early deficit to chip away at the lead.
Although the Bobcats continue to get down big early in games, the young squad is gaining valuable experience as they continue to battle through the end of tough games, adjusting to both one another and the collegiate level of play.
Freshman Raysean Hairston (Elizabethtown, NC) lead the Bobcats with 15 points and seven rebounds. Another freshman, Sam Youse (Winston-Salem, NC) had a career high 14 points in the contest while senior Blake Carr (Seymour, TN) added 11.
The Falcons were led by Derrick Truesdale (Waxhaw, NC) and Thomas Carr (Toledo, OH) who both scored 15 points. Also scoring in double figures for the Falcons were teammates Logan Call (Ronda, NC) and Quintel Maxwell (Pensacola, FL) who had 12 and 10 respectively.
The Bobcats host defending national champion Barton College on Saturday, January 19th. Tipoff is set for 4:00pm.
