Bobcats Drop Fifth Straight with 72-63 Loss to Brevard

BANNER ELK, N.C. - The Lees-McRae College Bobcats men's
basketball team let a seven point halftime lead slip away to lose
72-63 to the Brevard College Tornados Thursday night in a
non-conference game in Williams Gymnasium.
After the Tornados scored the first bucket of the game, the Bobcats
led for the entire first half and pushed the lead to seven, 33-26,
heading into the locker room for halftime.
The Bobcats' relentless defense held the Tornados to only 33
percent from the floor and 29 percent from behind the three-point
line. The Bobcats shot 40 percent from the floor and 42 percent
from behind the arc.
In the second half, the Tornados took the lead 41-39 with 14
minutes to play. The Bobcats closed the lead to four with 11
minutes to play, but couldn't complete the comeback as the Tornados
pushed the lead to as much as 15 points.
Bobcats shot 35 percent from the field and 38 percent from the
three-point line in the second half, while the Tornados had a 51
percent field goal percentage in the second half and 40 percent
three point percentage.
The Tornados capitalized on 16 Bobcat turnovers with 20 points,
while the Bobcats could only score 12 points on 19 Tornado
The Bobcats had four players in double figure scoring. Sam Youse
(Winston-Salem, N.C.) and Kyle Boardman (Clemmons, N.C.) had 12
points, and Aaron Willey (Kingsport, Tenn.) and Nick Deschepper
(Fishers, Ind.) had 11 points. Stephen Haymer (Fayetteville, N.C.)
added seven points and 10 rebounds.
Brevard was lead by Jonathan Whitson who scored 22 points and
grabbed 12 rebounds for the double double. Andrew Feeman scored 11
The Bobcats' next game will be Tuesday, November 25th at Queens
University of Charlotte for their Conferece Carolinas opener.
