Flying Fleet Fly Past Bobcats, 63-56

Due West, S.C. - The Lees-McRae College Bobcats fell to the Erskine College Flying Fleet, 63-56, in a hard fought game Monday night in a Conference Carolinas clash.

With the win, the Fleet improve to 5-9 overall and 4-4 in conference play while the Bobcats drop to 1-18 and 1-8.

During the first half of play Erskine shot a mere 33 percent from the floor, 33 percent from behind the arc and 40 percent from the free throw line, but still managed to take a slight 27-26 heading into the break. The Bobcats were 11-26, 42 percent, overall and 2-8, 25 percent, from behind the three point arc.

The second half was more of the same, but Erskine was able to capitalize on key Bobcat turnovers.

The Bobcats finished 15-34, 36 percent, from the floor and 6-23, 26 percent from behind the three point line.

The Bobcats forfeited the ball 14 times which the Fleet exchanged for 17 points; the Bobcats earned eight points off of ten Erskine turnovers.

Lees-McRae's Stephen Haymer (Fayetteville, N.C.) earned the only double-double of the evening with 14 points and 11 boards. Kyle Boardman (Clemmons, N.C.) also had 14 points and gathered 8 rebounds of his own. Sam Youse (Winston-Salem, N.C.) was the only other Bobcat to reach double digits with ten points.

Brandon Wright led the Fleet tonight with 18 points, seven rebounds, and two steals. Point guard Dejan Nedelkovski added 15 points and three rebounds to the Fleet cause, while Jay Boulware contributed ten points and four rebounds of his own.

The Bobcats will travel to Hartsville, South Carolina to take on the Coker College Cobras Saturday, January 24th at 4 p.m.
