LMC Drops Decision at North Greenville, 94-77

TIGERVILLE, S.C. --- Lees-McRae junior Jacquise Moore notched his third consecutive 20-point game, but North Greenville placed all five starters in double figures while downing LMC 94-77 in Conference Carolinas play Monday evening at Hayes Gymnasium in Tigerville, S.C.

The Crusaders (14-10, 7-7 CC) saw all of their starters collect at least 12 points while Phillip Brown led the charge with an 18-point, 11-rebound effort. The Bobcats (6-18, 1-12) struggled from long distance while five players notch seven points or more in the contest.

Four different Bobcats knocked down a shot in a span of 1:47 to give LMC an early 19-10 lead following a Moore layup (Concord, N.C.).

The Crusaders responded with an 11-2 run to tie it at 21 with 8:56 remaining after Patrick George converted a traditional three-point play.

Freshman Darius Malbon (Hickory, N.C.) hit the backend of a pair of free-throws while LMC trailed by four, 30-26.

NGU finished the half on a 10-5 run while Chris Dean chimed in with six points.

The Bobcats shot 40.7% from the floor, but the Crusaders doubled them up on made free-throw attempts (12-6).

Following a Micah Parker three-point play, Chad Hicks (Winston-Salem, N.C.) got in the mix with two of his eight points to make 53-41 at the 15:37 mark.

Donte Falls (Shelby, N.C.) and Hicks drained a pair of buckets each in part of an 11-2 run to shave the deficit to six, 60-54.

The NGU offense ripped off a 9-0 run over the next 2:49 to stretch the lead to 15.

Moore tallied seven of his game-high 22 points in less than two minutes before Falls jumper made it 75-65.

Once again, the Crusader offense caught fire and went on a 14-4 run to put it out of reach.

Keith Johnson matched Brown with an 18-point effort while Thomas Horn chipped in 15 points for NGU.

Freshman Mike Chambers (Winston-Salem, N.C.) enjoyed a double-digit effort with 17 points.

LMC returns to action Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. when it welcomes Mount Olive to Williams Gymnasium.
