Pfeiffer Uses Late Run to Defeat Bobcats, 75-67

MISENHEIMER, N.C. --- 10 Lees-McRae players scored three points or more while the men's basketball team dropped a 75-67 decision at Pfeiffer in Conference Carolinas play Saturday night at Merner Gym in Misenheimer, N.C.

The Falcons (14-11, 10-9 CC) was rock solid from the field, knocking down 52% of their shots, while Josh Calhoun led all scorers with 15 points. The Bobcats (15-11, 10-9) saw senior Jacquise Moore (Concord, N.C.) tack onto his nation-leading steal total by swiping four in the contest.

LMC currently sits tied for fourth with PU for the upcoming Conference Carolinas Men's Basketball Tournament. At the moment, the Falcons hold the tiebreaker thanks to a win against King (Tenn.) earlier in the year. The Bobcats travel to King on Tuesday. Coach Steve Hardin's squad could finish anywhere from third to sixth. The top four teams host a quarterfinal game next Saturday (Feb. 28).

PU's Mackly Bien-Aime jumpstarted the Falcon offense with six points while his team held a 17-10 lead after 6:59 of action.

Bobcat freshman Keegan Crabtree (Hillsborough, N.C.) caught fire and splashed a trio of threes while LMC responded with a 14-2 run in a 2:37 span.

Both teams traded buckets and free throws for the remainder of the first half.

Moore sank a pair of free throws at the 2:29 mark, putting LMC up 39-36.

Moore led the Bobcats with 13 points.

PU's defense clamped down and held the Bobcats without a bucket in the final 3:05 and used a 7-0 run during that time to take a 43-39 lead into the break.

A Sean Deniton (Raleigh, N.C.) layup and Josh Gaither (Statesville, N.C.) triple gave LMC a slim 48-46 lead.

Junior Kendall Isler (Winder, Ga.) gave the Falcons a taste of Dunk Mountain with a thunderous jam with 9:37 remaining in the second.

Isler gashed the PU defense for a layup minutes later, giving the Bobcats a 67-63 lead.

The Falcons called a timeout and with 3:03 left and would respond with a 12-0 run to end the game.

PU's AJ Clark powered the comeback with six made free throws. Clark finished with 11 points, all coming in the second half.

LMC hit eight threes on the night while Moore led the team with seven rebounds.

The Bobcats conclude regular season play at King (Tenn.) Tuesday, Feb. 24 at 7:30 p.m. in Bristol, Tenn.
