BRISTOL, Tenn. --- Cameron Redd and Lepreece Lynch combined for 35 points, but the Lees-McRae men's basketball team fell to No. 5 Lincoln Memorial, 94-77, in a SAC/CC contest Saturday afternoon at the Student Center Complex in Bristol, Tenn.
The Railsplitters (1-1) had five players with at least 12 points, led by Luquon Choice with 23. The Bobcats (0-2) had 11 different players score while the team went 21-of-24 from the free throw line.
Redd (Garner, N.C.) had a career-high 17 points and went 6-for-8 from the field was a perfect 5-for-5 from the charity stripe.
The senior scored six consecutive points for LMC to counter a pair of buckets from LMU's Emanuel Terry in the early going of the contest.
The Railsplitter defense stymied LMC and held it without a bucket for a span of 4:37 while building a 10-point lead, 22-12.
Lynch (Winston-Salem, N.C.) produced a quick 5-0 spurt in a span of 33 seconds to cut the deficit to five, 22-17.
Redd knocked down a jumper at the 6:13 mark to make it 24-22.
LMU turned up the heat and went on a 19-4 run to finish the half.
Choice buried a pair of threes to start the second half while LMU's lead ballooned to 24.
The Bobcats chiseled into the lead with accurate shooting from the free-throw line and cut the deficit to 14 after senior Austin Anderson (Anderson, S.C.) and Lynch combined to go 4-for-4.
The Railsplittlers held the Bobcats at arm's length for the rest of the contest despite a late charge, spearheaded by Anderson and Kendall Isler (Winder, Ga.).
Both teams scored 51 points in the second half.
Lynch averaged 20 points in his first two games for the Bobcats.
Isler led LMC with five rebounds while Redd and freshman Trey Hall (Orlando, Fla.) recorded a pair of blocks each.
The Bobcats travel to Owensboro, Ky. to battle Kentucky Wesleyan Tuesday, Nov. 17 at 8 p.m.
