OWENSBORO, Ky. --- Sophomore Zach Wilmoth (Dobson, N.C.) scored a career-high 11 points, but the Lees-McRae men's basketball team suffered a 108-73 setback at Kentucky Wesleyan Tuesday evening in Owensboro, Ky.
The Panthers (3-0) remain perfect on the season while six players tallied double figures, including a game-high 18 from Jordan Jacks. The Bobcats (0-3) forced 23 turnovers while senior Kendall Isler (Winder, Ga.) led the team with 14 points.
KWC controlled held a +16 (24-8) advantage in assists.
Isler and senior teammate Cameron Redd (Garner, N.C.) knocked down a pair of shots in the early goings to give LMC a 4-3 advantage.
Chad Hicks (Winston-Salem, N.C.) splashed a jumper at the 15:23 mark to keep the lead at one, 8-7.
The Panthers defense held LMC without a point for a four-minute span while producing an 11-0 run.
Senior Austin Anderson (Anderson, S.C.) nailed a three-pointer to end the drought.
KWC saw its lead balloon to 16, 32-16, before a Darius Malbon (Hickory, N.C.) layup.
The Panthers held LMC to two made field goals in the last 4:33 of the opening half.
KWC shot 63% from the floor in the first 20 minutes while Jacks was a perfect 6-for-6 and amassed 16 points.
The Bobcats went 18-for-19 from the charity stripe in the second half.
Both teams exchanged three-point baskets before Malbon ripped off five consecutive points midway through the second half.
Isler led the team with seven rebounds and four assists. Jordan Turner (Hickory, N.C.) chipped in with eight points.
The Bobcats trek to Southern Indiana for a nonconference tilt Wednesday, Nov. 18 at 8 p.m. in Evansville, Ind.
