MISENHEIMER, N.C. --- Senior Austin Anderson produced his fourth 20-point effort of the season while the Lees-McRae men's basketball team pushed its win streak to four with a 76-72 victory at Pfeiffer in Conference Carolinas play Saturday evening at Merner Gym in Misenheimer, N.C.
The Bobcats (5-4, 3-0 CC) remain perfect in conference play and have won five of their last six while hitting at least a dozen threes in six of their last seven. The Falcons (4-5, 1-2) enjoyed career-high performance from Andrew Guerrero, who had a game-high 31 points.
Guerrero was a perfect 14-for-14 from the charity stripe.
Coach Steve Hardin's first 15 points were via the three while Anderson (Anderson, S.C.) delivered a pair of them.
Lepreece Lynch (Winston-Salem, N.C.) got rolling with a pair of triples and a jumper in the first 7:01 of the game and finished the night with 20 points.
PU took a slim 23-20 lead following consecutive buckets from Mike Smith. Smith finished the night with nine points and four assists.
Sophomore Zach Wilmoth (Dobson, N.C.) joined the three-point parade with 6:54 remaining in the first while pushing the Bobcats lead to 29-25.
Following a pair of Guerrero free throws, Wilmoth struck again before an Anderson jumper at the 2:47 mark.
LMC's defense impressed and held the Falcons without a field goal for the final 5:30 of the first half.
The Bobcats held a two-point lead at the half, 38-36, despite PU shooting 50%.
The Falcons connected on six consecutive free throws to cut the lead to two.
Guerrero tied the game at 54 with 8:57 on the clock.
The Bobcats responded with consecutive threes from Lynch and senior Kendall Isler (Winder, Ga.). Lynch splashed another one for insurance, giving LMC its largest lead of the contest, 63-54.
The Falcons restored order and clamped down and held LMC without a basket for 4:48 before a Crabtree triple.
Guerrero drained two of his five threes in a span of 34 seconds to cut the deficit to one, 73-72.
Lynch and Avery Wallis (Wilkesboro, N.C.) remained poised and hit 3-of-4 from the charity stripe to ice the win.
Anderson led the Bobcats with six rebounds and seven assists.
PU's De'Vonte Jenkins led all players with eight rebounds while chipping in 12 points.
The Bobcats look to push their streak to five when Erskine visits Banner Elk, N.C. Saturday, Dec. 12 at 4 p.m.
