CENTRAL, S.C. --- Five Lees-McRae players tallied double digits, led by senior Kendall Isler with 15 while the men's basketball team throttled Southern Wesleyan, 98-85, in Conference Carolinas play Saturday evening at Tysinger Gymnasium in Central, S.C.
The Bobcats (8-7, 5-1 CC) bounced back from a road loss by shooting 55% on the night while 14 players scored at least two points. The Warriors (2-13, 1-6) saw Darius Sharpe drop a game-high 27 points, but the defense allowed 60 points in the first half.
The first five minutes of the contest was action-packed after a Chad Hicks (Winston-Salem, N.C.) bucket tied it at 11.
Lynch scored the next seven points for coach Steve Hardin's squad before a Zach Wilmoth (Dobson, N.C.) jumper made it 23-14.
The Bobcats pushed the lead to 20 after a five-point spurt from sophomore Keegan Crabtree (Hillsborough, N.C.) and a triple from Wallis.
Hicks, Wilmoth and Turner all connected on three pointers in the final 3:23 while LMC held a healthy 60-40 lead at the break.
SWU cut the deficit to 11, 66-55, following a pair of Jamaral Kearse threes.
Turner nailed a three after a Cameron Redd (Garner, N.C.) bucket to hold the advantage at a steady 13.
The Bobcats used an 11-0 run to ice the contest while knocking down 6-of-7 from the charity stripe in the waning moments.
Redd finished with 14 points while Turner and Wilmoth had 11 each.
Redd led the team with six rebounds and Jonathan Honore (Baton Rouge, La.) amassed four steals.
LMC wraps up nonconference action when it welcomes Piedmont International Monday, Jan. 11 at 6 p.m. in Banner Elk, N.C.
