BANNER ELK, N.C. --- The Lees-McRae athletic department and basketball teams enjoyed a solid showing for "Pack The Den" Friday night at Williams Gymnasium.
The purpose of the event was to provide food for the entire campus in the gym while promoting Lees-McRae basketball. The menu included: boneless wings (BBQ and Buffalo), nachos, ballpark pretzels, fried oreos, fruit punch, sweet tea and other delicious items.
"What a great night involving the different areas of campus, with student development and dining services we were able to put on a very special event," said Vice President of Club Sports and Athletics Craig McPhail.
Over 250 students showed up for the event while the stands were filled with 3-point posters.
The Bobcats didn't fail by combining for 13 made three-point shots.
Prior to the game, The Highlanders, the Lees-McRae performing arts group, sang an acapella version of the National Anthem. See video HERE.
"Having this type of game day environment gave us a chance to really showcase the athletic department and seeing tables full of people enjoying the atmosphere gives us great ideas for next venture," praised McPhail.
Most importantly, both basketball teams picked up wins against Southern Wesleyan. The women earned an 83-79 win before the men claimed a 98-91 victory.
