BANNER ELK, N.C. – The Lees-McRae College men's basketball team will lift the lid on its 2016-17 regular season this weekend at the Conference Challenge in Greeneville, Tenn. LMC will open the event with a game at 8 p.m. against Tusculum before taking on No. 2 Lincoln Memorial at 3 p.m. Saturday.
Scouting the Bobcats – The Bobcats will look to improve upon their 16-15 record overall from last season heading into the 2016-17 campaign. Junior Lepreece Lynch returns is the team's leading scorer returning this season after averaging 12.7 points per game as a sophomore. In total, the Bobcats have 12 players with collegiate playing experience and have four newcomers on their roster.
Scouting Tusculum – Tusculum finished last season with a record of 14-15 overall. Like the Bobcats, the Pioneers are a veteran team as they return eight lettermen and two starters from last season. One of the keys to the Pioneers' success will be 6-10 center Chase Mounce who averaged 13.3 points per game along with 6.5 rebounds per game. Mounce also is in the top five in the program's history in blocked shots.
Scouting Lincoln Memorial – The Railsplitters enter the 2016-17 season ranked No. 2 in the nation according to the first NABC Coaches' Poll after finishing as the national runner-up last season. LMU went 34-3 in 2015-16 and it returns several key cogs from that squad. All-SAC Preseason First Team picks Luquon Choice, Emanuel Terry and Dorian Pinson figure to be the leaders for the team this season.
