BANNER ELK, N.C. – Offense was not at a premium Friday evening when the Lees-McRae College men's basketball team and Pfeiffer clashed at Williams Gymnasium. The Bobcats ended up being on the losing side of a 124-108 final score. The 108 points are the most for LMC since Jan. 17, 2015 when it scored 111 points against the same opponent, Pfeiffer.
Pfeiffer seemingly could not miss from three-point range in the game's first 10 minutes as it knocked down 12 shots from beyond the arc. Thanks to the sharp-shooting from the outside, the Falcons led by as many as 29 points in the first half. Lees-McRae was able to close the deficit back down to 12 heading into the break.
LMC's comeback bid continued in the second half and it got the team within two possessions on three different occasions. Donte Falls got LMC within four points, 87-83, with 11:23 to go in regulation. Unfortunately that's where the comeback stopped. The Falcons got their lead back out to as many as 17 points before finishing up at a 16-point margin of victory, 124-108.
Individually, Lees-McRae had five different players score in double figures Friday night. Donte Falls led the way for LMC with 23 points on 10-of-12 shooting from the field. The 23 points marked a new career-best for Falls. Senior Darius Malbon also posted a standout performance scoring a season-high 17 points against the Falcons.
The Bobcats will be back in action Saturday afternoon when they play host to Belmont Abbey. Tip-off is set for 4 p.m.
