BANNER ELK, N.C. – The Lees-McRae College men's basketball team will look to cement its positioning for the upcoming Conference Carolinas Tournament in its regular season finale at King (TN) University Friday. The game is scheduled for a 7:30 p.m. start time.
Last Time Out – The Bobcats fell in a close 85-83 decision at Barton on Tuesday. LMC had an opportunity to win the game in the closing seconds, but a three-pointer from Jordan Turner was just off the mark allowing the Bulldogs to pick up the victory.
Snapping Skids Friday – Lees-McRae will not only look to end a three-game losing streak that it's on currently but it also will hope to stop a string of four consecutive seasons where it has lost its final regular season game. LMC's last win in a regular season finale came at the conclusion of the 2011-12 campaign.
Six or Seven – The Bobcats will either be the No. 6 or 7 seed for the Conference Carolinas Tournament. LMC, which holds the tiebreaker over Mount Olive to determine sixth or seventh seed, will travel to Barton if it is sixth seed. On the flip side if the Bobcats finish seventh, they will hit the road to take on either Pfeiffer or Limestone in the first round.
Senior Stepping Up – Senior Darius Malbon has led Lees-McRae in scoring over the past three games averaging 17.0 points per contest. In comparison, Malbon averaged 4.2 points per game in the team's first 24 contests.
Series Rewind – The Tornado snuck past the Bobcats 98-97 when the two teams matched up at Williams Gymnasium eight days ago. Malbon and Turner both led the Bobcats with 23 points in that contest.
