BANNER ELK, N.C. – The Lees-McRae College men's basketball team will open the Conference Carolinas portion of its schedule Tuesday when it hosts Southern Wesleyan at Williams Gymnasium. The tip-off between the Warriors and Bobcats is set for 7:30 p.m.
Last Time Out: Lees-McRae knocked off Bluefield State last Saturday by a score of 92-87 on the road. The victory, which is the team's second straight, improves LMC's record to 4-3 on the 2017-18 campaign.
Strong Start through Seven Games: The 4-3 start to this season by Lees-McRae is the best seven-game start to a season for the program since 2014-15 when it also began its season with a 4-3 mark.
Bobcats for Three: Coming into this week's action, the Bobcats lead all Conference Carolinas institutions with 61 three-pointers made on the season. Senior Jordan Turner leads these efforts with 22 three balls. Kamil Williams (11) and Lepreece Lynch (10) have also made 10 or more threes as well.
Free Throw Stat: A pair of seniors have etched their respective names into the program's record book in the early going this season in regards to free throw shooting. Lynch is currently seventh in program history with 195 free throws made, while Donte Falls comes in at the tenth place in Bobcat history with 183 made free throws.
About the Opponent: Southern Wesleyan comes into Tuesday's matchup at Williams Gymnasium with an 1-5 record on the 2017-18 season. SWU's victory came on Nov. 18 when it defeated Columbia International, 70-58. The Warriors are led by junior forward Justice McCullough. McCollough is averaging a double-double with 15.8 points and 13.3 rebounds per game.
Series Histories vs. SWU: Lees-McRae has held the edge over SWU since the latter joined the conference in 2014. The Bobcats have won five of the six all-time matchups, including both meetings last season.
