BANNER ELK, N.C. – In its final game of 2017, the Lees-McRae College men's basketball team will play host to Anderson (S.C.) University Saturday evening at Williams Gymnasium. Tip-off between the Bobcats and Trojans is set for 7 p.m.
Last Time Out: Lees-McRae dropped a 94-90 decision at Limestone on Dec. 9. The loss moved LMC's record to 6-4 overall and 1-1 in Conference Carolinas play on the season.
Bobcat Blocks: LMC currently tops its conference averaging 4.4 blocks per game. On a national scale, Lees-McRae's mark ranks 27th among Division II men's basketball teams. If the Bobcats maintain this current pace through the rest of the season, they will set a new program record in that category.
Lynch Leading the Way: Senior Lepreece Lynch has led the way for LMC so far this season averaging 17.2 points per game. With just 72 more points, Lynch will enter the program's top 10 all-time scoring list with 895 points.
Home on the Mountain: Like most teams, the Bobcats have fared much better playing in front of the hometown crowd. Lees-McRae is 3-1 in Banner Elk this season with the only loss coming against No. 4 Lincoln Memorial. Additionally, LMC is averaging nearly 100 points per game (98.5) playing at home compared to just 82.3 on the road.
About the Opponent: After starting its season 2-8, Anderson has reeled off a pair of wins over Catawba and Newberry over the past handful of weeks. The Trojans are led by Randall Shaw who is averaging just over 17 points per contest (17.3).
Series History vs. Opponent: Anderson and Lees-McRae have met a total of 24 times over the years with the bulk of those matchups coming when both teams were in the same conference. The Trojans have won six straight against LMC with the last coming in 2009-10. LMC's last win in the series came in 2006-2007.
