BANNER ELK, N.C. – Trailing by as many as 10 points in the second half, the Lees-McRae College men's basketball team came storming back to upend Emmanuel College Saturday afternoon at Williams Gymnasium, 76-74. The win pushes LMC's record to 10-6 overall and 4-3 in league play.

Emmanuel's Kendrick Colvin gave his squad an early boost in Saturday's matchup with the Bobcats. Colvin scored a team-high 17 points in the first 20 minutes of action to pace the Lions. Unlike Emmanuel that relied heavily on one player to do most of the damage, Lees-McRae used a more balanced approach. Five players scored five or more points in the opening half with Jordan Turner leading the way with seven points. The diverse offense by LMC allowed it to stay within striking distance going into the halftime break, 44-42.

As the two teams began play in the second half, the Bobcats seemed like they were in danger of falling too far behind to catch up. The Lions led 58-48 with 12:57 to go in the game. LMC would battle back though closing the deficit to one possession with just under two minutes to go. Lees-McRae tied the score at 74 with 1:01 to go. The Bobcats then forced a turnover to give themselves a chance to either win the game or force overtime. Senior Donte Falls found fellow senior Avery Wallis on a back cut underneath the basket and Wallis laid it up and in to give LMC a 76-74 lead with four seconds to go. The Lions took a timeout to plan a play but they could not execute as they didn't attempt a shot in the four seconds they had to work with giving LMC its second straight win.

Jason Saintizaire led all Bobcat scorers with 13 points on the night. Fellow junior Kamil Williams was not far behind with 12 points of his own. Overall, 11 of the 14 Bobcats that played Saturday scored at least two points.

The Bobcats will look to win their third in a row Monday when they host Erskine at 4 p.m. Monday's game is Community Appreciation Day for LMC. All fans will be admitted into the game free of charge.
