WILSON, N.C. – Barton College made 13 three-pointers on its way to a 123-91 victory over the Lees-McRae College men's basketball team Wednesday evening. The loss pushes LMC's record to 5-9 overall and 2-3 in Conference Carolinas play.
The Bulldogs jumped on the Bobcats early in the contest scoring 14 of the first 16 points. The 12-point deficit was trimmed to as little as eight before another surge from Barton led to Lees-McRae facing an 18-point hole going to the half.
When the two teams returned to the court for the second half, Lees-McRae clicked much better offensively shooting 55.6 percent in the frame compared to 39.4 percent clip from the first. Even with the improved offense, the Bulldogs not only maintained their lead but also extended it. Barton ended up winning Wednesday's tilt by 32 points, 123-91.
Three Bobcats finished the night in double figures. Quay Kimble and Andrew Gardner both scored 14 points to lead the squad, while Kerry Richardson added 10 points as well. Additionally, freshman Marquis Robinson posted a career-high eight points in the contest.
Lees-McRae will be back in action Saturday when it hosts Belmont Abbey at Williams Gymnasium. Tip-off for that matchup is scheduled for 4 p.m.
