Four Lees-McRae basketball players earn Academic All-Conference honors

HIGH POINT, N.C. – The Lees-McRae College basketball programs had a total of four players recognized Friday by being named to the Academic All-Conference teams by the league office. Mackenzie Blankenship, Taylor Fluette and Brea Forbes were named to the squad from the women's team, while Dylan Gollihar was the lone representative from the men's program.

The Conference Carolinas Academic All-Conference teams are comprised of junior and senior student-athletes who have competed in a conference-sponsored sport and maintained a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 or higher on a 4.0 scale in all work completed at their member institution. The GPA is calculated based on the student-athlete's cumulative average through the previous semester and each student-athlete must have attended their member institution for at least one academic year.

Both basketball teams will return to action next week by competing in their respective conference tournaments. The women's team, which drew the No. 5 seed, will head to No. 4 Mount Olive Monday evening for its quarterfinal matchup. The men's team will look to defend its conference tournament title from a season ago beginning Tuesday when it visits top-seeded Emmanuel in the first round. Monday's game is scheduled for a 5:30 p.m. tip-off, and Tuesday's contest is set for 7 p.m. start time.
