BANNER ELK, N.C. – The Lees-McRae College men's basketball team will be back in action on Saturday when it visits Mars Hill University for a non-conference matchup. Tip-off between the Bobcats and Lions is scheduled for 2 p.m.
Last Time Out – Lees-McRae picked up an 85-80 neutral site win over Tusculum last Sunday in Charlotte. The victory pushes LMC's record to 3-1 on the 2019-20 season.
Making the Free Ones Count – A key for Lees-McRae's early season success can be traced in part to its ability to make free throws. The Bobcats are currently seventh in NCAA Division II in free throw percentage checking in at 84.5 percent.
Ode to the Offense – The Bobcats have been a stellar offensive team in general through the first two weeks of the season. Lees-McRae is included in a group of just 17 Division II institutions that are averaging more than 92 points per game.
About Mars Hill – The Lions enter Saturday's game with the Bobcats with a record of 2-3 so far this season. Mars Hill owns victories over Limestone and Warren Wilson coupled with setbacks to Belmont Abbey, North Greenville and Erskine. A player to watch for MHU on Saturday is Ja'Shawn Brooks who is averaging 21.5 points per game through five games.
Series Rewind vs. MHU – Despite being separated by just 69 miles, this will mark the first meeting between Mars Hill and Lees-McRae since 2011. Overall, Mars Hill is 15-4 all-time against the Bobcats since the first meeting back in 1991-92.
