BANNER ELK, N.C. – The Lees-McRae College men's basketball team will look to continue its winning ways on Saturday when it visits rival Mount Olive in a key conference matchup. Tip-off between the Bobcats and Trojans is scheduled for 4 p.m.
Last Time Out – The Bobcats erased a double digit deficit to defeat Barton last Saturday at Williams Gymnasium by a score of 112-106 in overtime. The victory pushes LMC's record to 11-3 overall and 4-2 in conference play.
Already There – With Saturday's win over Barton, the Bobcats have already matched their win total from all of last season. LMC has 14 games remaining in the regular season to improve that win total and aim for the program record for victories in a season (23 – 2017-18).
Last Trip for a while – Saturday will be the last road trip for LMC for a while. After their matchup with the Trojans, the Bobcats will play six straight home games before going back out on the road on February 5 to North Greenville. Lees-McRae will look to improve its 6-0 mark at home during that stretch.
About Mount Olive – Mount Olive enters Saturday's tilt with the Bobcats with an overall record of 9-7 and a 3-5 mark in conference action. A player to watch for UMO on Saturday is Johnny Hughes III who is averaging 12.1 points and 7.8 rebounds per game.
Series Rewind vs. UMO – Lees-McRae and Mount Olive split the two meetings between the programs last season. UMO knocked off the Bobcats 103-93 in Banner Elk last January but LMC evened the season series later that month with a 78-70 win on UMO's home floor.
