    NEWBERRY, S.C. – Virginia State University shot 53 percent from the field and held the Lees-McRae College men’s basketball team to a 38 percent from the field on its way to a 94-79 win over the Bobcats Friday night in Newberry, S.C. The loss drops LMC’s record to 1-2 on the season.

    ASHEVILLE, N.C. – 19 turnovers by the Lees-McRae College men’s basketball team helped UNC Asheville earn a 92-60 victory over the Bobcats in an exhibition contest Monday night at Kimmel Arena.
  • Men’s Basketball preps for three games this week

    BANNER ELK, N.C. – Fresh off its first weekend of regular season action, the Lees-McRae College men’s basketball team will return to the court for three games this week. LMC will begin the week with an exhibition game at UNC Asheville at 7 p.m. on Monday before participating in the Newberry Invitational on Friday and Saturday. At the invitational, the Bobcats will face Virginia State at 5 p.m. Friday before taking on Voorhees or Newberry on Saturday at either noon or 2 p.m. depending upon the result of Friday’s game.
  • Records fall as Bobcats run away from Tusculum, 119-86

    BANNER ELK, N.C. – The Lees-McRae College men’s basketball team made a bit of history Saturday evening at Williams Gymnasium as it set a new school record for points in a game during the Division II era by scoring 119 points in a 119-86 win over Tusculum. Additionally, the Bobcats racked up 19 three-pointers made, which is also a new record for the program.
  • Bobcats battle but fall to No. 2 Lincoln Memorial, 100-80

    BANNER ELK, N.C. – The Lees-McRae College men’s basketball team opened its 2017-18 regular season with a tough test as it hosted the No. 2 team in the country in Lincoln Memorial Friday in Williams Gymnasium. LMC battled but ended up falling to the Railsplitters by a score of 100-80.
  • Men’s Basketball kicks off its regular season by hosting Conference Carolinas/SAC Challenge

    BANNER ELK, N.C. – The Lees-McRae College men’s basketball team will open its 2017-18 regular season by hosting the Conference Carolinas/SAC Challenge this weekend at Williams Gymnasium. LMC will open play with a matchup against No. 4 Lincoln Memorial Friday at 7 p.m. before taking on Tusculum Saturday at 6 p.m.

    HIGH POINT, N.C. – The Lees-McRae College men’s basketball team was picked to finish sixth in the Conference Carolinas Preseason Coaches’ Poll the league announced Wednesday afternoon. Seniors Donte Falls and Jordan Turner along with junior Kamil Williams were tabbed as players to watch for the Bobcats this season.

  • Desean Motley named new Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach

    BANNER ELK, N.C. – Lees-McRae’s Head Men’s Basketball Coach Steve Hardin announced the hiring of Desean Motley as the program’s new assistant coach Thursday afternoon. Motley spent this past season as a student assistant for the Bobcats.
  • Men’s Basketball signs six for the 2017-18 season

    BANNER ELK, N.C. – The Lees-McRae College men’s basketball team announced that it has signed six student-athletes for the upcoming 2017-18 season. The incoming recruiting class includes two Division I transfers, a pair of high school players, one junior college transfer and a transfer from a NAIA institution.
  • Mark Polsgrove named assistant men’s basketball coach at Lees-McRae

    BANNER ELK, N.C. – Mark Polsgrove has been selected as the Lees-McRae men’s basketball assistant coach, head coach Steve Hardin announced Monday afternoon. Polsgrove comes to Banner Elk after spending the past three years working for Appalachian State’s men’s basketball program in various capacities.
