BANNER ELK, N.C. --- Senior Dalton Lamb registered his second hat trick of the year and had a game-high 11 shots while the Lees-McRae men's lacrosse team fell short against Shorter, 11-7, Saturday afternoon at Tate Field in Banner Elk, N.C.
The Hawks (6-7) had a quartet of players that notched two goals each. The Bobcats (1-10) were a perfect 16-for-16 on clear attempts.
Lamb (Clemmons, N.C.) snagged a Louis Parks (Mays Landing, N.J.) pass with 42 seconds remaining in the first quarter and bested JR Willers to cut the deficit to one, 2-1.
SU's Tyler Schott and Travis Getz recorded second quarter goals while both team scooped nine groundballs each.
Stottlar dished an assist to Carney at the 13:02 mark before Carney returned the favor 2:43 later while LMC trailed 4-3.
The Hawks produced a 4-1 run to end the quarter while three different players scored a goal.
Lamb struck for his third goal with 14:23 left in regulation while Carney dished out his third of four assists.
LMC made a late push with a pair of goals in 38 seconds in the waning minutes of the contest.
Carney tallied his 23rd goal of the season with an incredible behind-the-back, no-look tally with 1:51 on the clock.
LMC travels to No. 2 Limestone Tuesday, April 7 at 7 p.m. in Gaffney, S.C.
