Men's Lacrosse Drops Bout at No. 15 Belmont Abbey

BELMONT, N.C. --- Four Lees-McRae men's lacrosse players scored a goal, including two apiece from Dane Carney and Blaine Stottlar while the team dropped a 30-6 decision to No. 15 Belmont Abbey in Conference Carolinas action Tuesday afternoon at Alumni Field in Belmont, N.C.

The Crusaders (8-1, 2-0 CC) offense was led by Adam Wiedemann, who produced seven goals. The Bobcats' (1-6, 0-2) Cameron Castle (Fort Collins, Colo.) turned in his sixth game of at least 16 saves.

LMC rattled off three man-up goals in the second quarter while Carney (Manchester, England) distributed two assists and scored on the other.

Junior Blaine Stottlar (Clinton, N.Y.) notched the LMC's first goal and junior Allan Smith (Honeoye, N.Y.) tallied the Bobcats' third.

Stottlar and Carney struck again in the third within 44 seconds of each other.

Freshman Alec Molander (Saanichton, British Columbia) earned an assist on Carney's tally.

Molander found the back of the net in the early stages of the fourth.

Castle posted a team-high four groundballs while Stottlar took seven shots.

The Bobcats welcome Point U. Saturday, March 26 at 1 p.m. to Tate Field.
