Molander Etches Name in Record Book; Men's Lacrosse Falls to No. 1 Limestone

BANNER ELK, N.C. --- Freshman Alec Molander set the single-season record for points while the Lees-McRae men's lacrosse team fell to top-ranked Limestone, 26-5, Tuesday evening under the lights at Tate Field in Banner Elk, N.C.

The Saints (16-0, 5-0 CC) saw Kyle Rhatigan and Mike Messenger combine for 10 goals. The Bobcats (2-12, 0-5) had a 10-save performance from freshman Cameron Castle (Fort Collins, Colo.).

Castle notched the double-digit effort in 45 minutes of action.

Molander (Saanichton, British Columbia) set the single-season record for LMC by notching his 58th point on the season. The record belonged to Marcus Colon and Ken Howell (55, 2001). He also set the single-season record with 27 assists.

Junior Blaine Stottlar (Clinton, N.Y.) notched his 25th goal on the season with 11:21 remaining in the first quarter while Molander earned an assist.

Molander dished out his second helper with 3:03 on the clock while Christopher Lamay (Hillsborough, N.C.) scored for the first time this season.

Molander registered an unassisted goal with 4:54 left in the first half.

Junior Dane Carney (Manchester, England) and Molander recorded goals in the fourth quarter.

The Saints' Rhatigan led the way with six goals and two assists.

LMC's Louis Parks (Mays Landing, N.J.) led the squad with three groundballs. Sophomore Jordan Lombardo (York, Pa.) made three saves in the fourth quarter.

The Bobcats welcome Emmanuel (Ga.) Saturday, April 23 at 1 p.m. for Senior Day at Tate Field.
