BANNER ELK, N.C. – The Lees-McRae College men's lacrosse team has a pair of games on tap this week beginning Tuesday at No. 2 Limestone. Following their matchup with the Saints, the Bobcats will return home Saturday to host Alabama-Huntsville at Tate Field. The start times for the games this week are scheduled for 4 p.m. and noon, respectively.
Last Time Out – Lees-McRae picked up its first win of 2017 last Tuesday when it defeated Montreat College on the road, 20-6. Dane Carney led LMC with five goals and four assists in the victory, while Ryan Beauchamp notched a team-high 18 groundballs. The 20 goals scored by Lees-McRae is a new single game record for the program.
Count on Carney – In Tuesday's win at Montreat, Carney became the program's all-time leading goal scorer with five goals. In his career as a Bobcat, Carney has scored 79 goals.
LMC with the assists – Three of the top five assist marks in the Conference Carolinas this season are from Lees-McRae players. Carney is third in the conference with six assists, while Alec Molander and Blaine Stottlar are tied for fourth with five helpers each.
About Limestone – Limestone enters Tuesday's game with the Bobcats ranked No. 2 in this week's USILA/NIKE Division II Men's Lacrosse Coaches Poll. The Saints, who are 3-0 so far in 2017, have made three straight National Championship game appearances and they have taken home the title twice.
About Alabama-Huntsville – The Chargers are in their second season of having a men's lacrosse program. In its first season, UAH went 3-8 with wins over the Bobcats, Davis & Elkins and Brevard. So far this season, the Chargers have a record of 1-2. UAH won its matchup with Emmanuel (GA), 18-10, but dropped decisions against Lincoln Memorial and North Greenville.
