BANNER ELK, N.C. – The Lees-McRae College men's lacrosse team will return to conference action Saturday when it travels to Franklin Springs, Ga. to take on Emmanuel (GA) College. The first faceoff is set for 2 p.m.
Last Time Out – LMC dropped a close one to Notre Dame de Namur last Friday in Davenport, Fla. by a score of 13-12. The loss drops Lees-McRae's record to 2-4 on the season.
Carney continues to score – Junior Dane Carney continues to be not only one of the most consistent scorers for LMC but he also is one of the top scorers in the conference. Carney currently is fourth in goals (16) and second in assists (11) in the conference. Additionally, Carney broke the program record for career points last Friday. The Manchester, England native has 137 points (88g, 49a) in his Bobcat career.
Helping Hands – The Bobcats have been one of the most unselfish teams in nation so far in 2017 as they lead the conference in both assists and assists per game. On a national level, LMC ranks 12th and 19th in those two categories, respectively.
Groundballs galore – Freshman Ryan Beauchamp currently leads LMC with 27 groundballs on the season. Beauchamp's top performance in that category this season came in a win over Montreat where he picked up 18 groundballs. That mark is the second-highest among NCAA Division II players this season.
Series Rewind – Lees-McRae will look to make it two in a row over the Lions Saturday. LMC defeated EC in the season finale last year winning a 12-11 thriller in overtime. Molander led LMC with 10 points in that contest with four goals and six assists.
