BANNER ELK, N.C. – The Lees-McRae College men's lacrosse team will open play in the Conference Carolinas men's lacrosse tournament Tuesday afternoon when it travels to Mount Olive. The first faceoff between the Bobcats and Trojans is set for 4 p.m.
Last Time Out – LMC closed out its regular season with a 20-8 loss to North Greenville last Saturday at Tate Field. The loss moved Lees-McRae's record to 5-10 overall and 2-5 in conference play.
Setting New Standards – The Bobcats have not only set a new program record for wins this season with five but they have also punched their ticket to the conference tournament for just the second time in program history. LMC's last appearance in the event was in 2009 and it posted a record of 1-1. Lees-McRae defeated Pfeiffer 13-10 in the quarterfinals before falling to Queens (N.C.) by a score of 18-6 in the semifinals.
Dynamic Duo – The duo of Alec Molander and Dane Carney has been instrumental in LMC's success this season. Molander is first in the conference with 79 points, and Carney ranks fourth with 64 points of his own. The tandem has a combined total of 143 points in 2017, which is the most points between any two teammates in the league this season.
Series Rewind – Mount Olive defeated Lees-McRae by a score of 18-7 when the two teams matched up earlier this season. Senior Blaine Stottlar led LMC with three goals in the contest, while Cameron Castle made 12 saves and picked up eight ground balls as well.
