MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. – The Lees-McRae College men's lacrosse team scored three of the first four goals Tuesday afternoon in its Conference Carolinas Quarterfinal matchup against Mount Olive, but the Trojans rallied to upend the Bobcats, 24-5. The loss closes out the 2017 season for the Bobcats. LMC finishes with a record of 5-11, which is the most wins in a season in program history.
Alec Molander netted two of Lees-McRae's five goals Tuesday bringing his season point total to 81 (43g, 38a). Seniors Sean Miggins and Allan Smith also found the back of the net in what proved to be their final game in the Green and Gold. Tanner Jones wrapped up the goal scorers in the contest with his 16th goal of the season. Additionally, Dane Carney was the only Bobcat to notch an assist in the game and he totaled a pair of helpers.
Sophomore Cameron Castle took the loss in net for the Bobcats moving his record to 5-11. Castle made 19 saves, which marks the fourth time this season that the Fort Collins, Colorado native has made 19 saves or more in a game.
The Bobcats will look to build upon this season's success in 2018. LMC is set to return 16 players from this year's team, but it will lose six players because of graduation.
