BANNER ELK, N.C. – Fresh off an exciting overtime victory over Montreat last Wednesday, the Lees-McRae College men's lacrosse team will step into Conference Carolinas play for the first time this season when it travels to No. 7 Limestone on Wednesday. First face-off between the Bobcats and Saints is set for 7 p.m.
Last Time Out - Rallying from a five-goal deficit in the second half, the Bobcats upended the Cavaliers of Montreat College last Wednesday in overtime, 14-13. Alec Molander paced the Bobcat attack in the comeback victory with five goals and three assists.
Balanced Bobcat Attack – In addition to the performance from Molander, the Bobcats had four other players score at least one goal in Wednesday's contest. Senior Tanner Jones and freshman Craig Barr both netted three goals, while Jonathan Barry added two and Ryan Beauchamp scored one as well.
New Faces in the Green & Gold – Of the 12 players that competed in Wednesday's game, four made their collegiate debuts for LMC. Barry and Barr paced the newcomers with three points each. Fellow newcomers Vicente Ortiz-Sanchez and Gabe Soto also appeared against Montreat in their first collegiate action.
About Limestone – The Saints enter Wednesday's game being the highest ranked Conference Carolinas team in this week's national polls checking in at No. 7. Limestone is 1-2 so far in 2018 with all three games taking place at Saints Field in Gaffney. Individually, the Saints are led by Brendan P. Smith who has scored nine goals and dished out two assists.
Series Rewind – In the 2017 matchup between Limestone and Lees-McRae, the Saints came out on top by a score of 25-9. Molander and Jones paced the Bobcats in that contest tallying two goals and one assist each.
