HIGH POINT, N.C. – Lees-McRae College men's lacrosse player Alec Molander was named the Conference Carolinas Men's Lacrosse Player of the Week by the league office Monday morning. Molander is the first Bobcat to win the conference's player of the week honor since Dane Carney earned the same accolade on March 7, 2016.
"We are so proud of Alec and earning this week's Conference Carolinas Player of the Week award," said LMC Head Coach Brad Dunn. "Alec is the undisputed leader of our offense and truly makes the players around him better. It is only fitting that this week he surpassed all previous Lees-McRae lacrosse players to become the all-time point leader!"
Molander was instrumental in LMC's 20-7 victory over Emmanuel last Saturday at Tate Field. The junior from Victoria, British Columbia scored a season-high 10 points (7g, 3a). Molander also attempted 13 shots, picked up eight ground balls and caused three turnovers in the win. With his 10-point outing against the Lions, Molander is now the all-time leading scorer in LMC men's lacrosse history with 179 points.
Molander and the rest of the Bobcats will be back in action this Saturday when they travel to Coker for their final road game of the 2018 season. First face-off for that game is set for 7 p.m.
