BANNER ELK, N.C. – The Lees-McRae College men's lacrosse team will be back in action this week with a pair of road trips to Davis & Elkins on Thursday and Barton on Saturday. Thursday's tilt is set for a 7 p.m. first face-off, while Saturday's game is set for a 3:30 p.m. start time.
Last time out – The Bobcats fell in their last time out to No. 3 Limestone, 25-5. The loss moves Lees-McRae's record to 2-4 on the 2019 season and 0-2 within Conference Carolinas.
On the national leaderboard – Senior Alec Molander currently ranks fifth in the nation averaging 6.17 points per game. If Molander can keep up this current pace, he would shatter the program's single-season record for points per game, which he already holds after averaging 5.07 points per game back in 2017.
Tough stretch in the month of March – The Bobcats have had a tough start to the month of March with back-to-back games against ranked opponents. The challenges continue with three road games to close out this month. In addition to its trips to Davis & Elkins and Barton this week, Lees-McRae also makes a trip to Emmanuel to close out this month as well.
About the opponents – Davis & Elkins enters Thursday's game with the Bobcats with a 0-4 record on the season. A player to keep an eye on for the Senators is Trevor Kennedy as he leads the team with seven goals on the season.
Barton, meanwhile, is in its first season as a program in 2019. So far the Bulldogs are 1-8 in their inaugural season with their lone win coming against Felician.
Series history vs. opponents – There is not a ton of history between the Bobcats and their two opponents this week. Lees-McRae has only faced off against Davis & Elkins once in 2017 and this will be the first-ever matchup against Barton. The Senators knocked off the Bobcats by a score of 20-11 in their lone meeting.
