BANNER ELK, N.C. – The Lees-McRae College men's lacrosse team fell to No. 7 Belmont Abbey Saturday afternoon at Tate Field in its final home contest of the season by a score of 16-2. The contest was shortened to four 8-minute quarters due to field conditions and a lightning delay of over an hour. Lees-McRae moves to 4-9 overall and 0-6 within conference play with the result Saturday.

The seventh-ranked Crusaders jumped on the Bobcats early and often Saturday. Belmont Abbey scored the first two goals on the day and 12 of the first 13 on their way to a decisive 16-2 victory over Lees-McRae.

Lees-McRae's two goals Saturday came from the duo of Alec Molander and Craig Barr. Additionally, Ryan Beauchamp and Jack Callahan picked up assists on the two Bobcat goals on the day.

Cameron Castle ended up taking the loss in goal for the Bobcats after stopping five of 29 shots faced against the Crusaders in a little over 21 minutes of action. Castle's loss moves his record to 4-9 on the 2019 campaign.

Lees-McRae will close out its season next Saturday when they make the long trip to Chowan University in another Conference Carolinas contest. First face-off between the Bobcats and Hawks is set for 1 p.m.
