HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Lees-McRae College men's lacrosse team dropped its season opener at Coker University Sunday afternoon by a score of 20-7.
Coker began Sunday's contest performing well on both sides of the ball. The Cobra offense netted six goals in the first quarter and seven more in the second quarter all while pitching a shutout through the first two quarters. The Bobcats started to get things clicking in the final two frames playing Coker to a 7-7 tie over the final 30 minutes of play.
Individually, the Bobcats were paced Sunday by sophomore Jackson Galloway. Galloway netted three of the team's seven goals on four shot attempts. Ryan Beauchamp scored a pair of goals himself to go along with an assist and a team-high nine ground ball pickups. Mike Moore and Payton Risinger rounded out the goal scorers for Lees-McRae with one goal scored each in their first games as Bobcats.
Josh Csanyi made the start in goal for the Bobcats and played all 60 minutes. In his collegiate debut, Csanyi made 17 saves on 37 shots faced.
The Bobcats will be back in action on February 6 when they visit perennial national championship contender Limestone College in their first Conference Carolinas game of the season. First face-off for that game is set for 5 p.m.
