Berin Boracic scored three goals Saturday night leading the Lees-McRae Bobcats soccer team to a 6-1 victory over Barton College in Carolinas-Virginia Athletic Conference play. The game was the regular season finale for both teams.
The loss ended the season for the Bulldogs, who finished 2-10-2
overall and 0-8-2 in the CVAC. The Bobcats improve to 8-6-3, 5-3-2
in CVAC action, earning them the #6 seed in this week's CVAC
Tournament. The Bobcats will travel to third seed Limestone for a
quarterfinal match up Wednesday afternoon. The Bobcats and Saints
tied 2-2 in their only regular season match up this season.
Boracic (pictured), Matt Lacey, Chris Kuntz and Michael Lind
scored for the Bobcats. Assists on the first four goals were
credited to Kyle McGimsey, Nathan Wall, Kuntz and James Worsnop,
while the last two Bobcats strikes were unassisted.
Lees-McRae finished with a large 14-3 advantage in shots on goal against Barton keepers Gavin Barclay (no saves, 2 goals), Matt Coble (one save, no goals) and Michael Anderson (six saves, four goals). Sean Paradise and Dylan Lawrence split halves in goal for the Bobcats and made one save each. Paradise allowed one goal to Barton's Scott Summers (his eighth of the season) in the 38th minute.
